ABOUT The Founder
Hello, I’m Andrew Burland, but most people know me as Elk. My journey with music has been nothing short of a love affair, bordering on obsession. It’s this deep-seated passion that led me to found and nurture Purple Elk Productions.
Armed with a first-class honours degree in music production and over 35 years of immersion in the world of music, I consider myself incredibly fortunate. My journey has taken me through various roles as a professional musician, sound engineer, and drum workshop facilitator, each contributing to my rich tapestry of experience.
I’ve traversed a diverse array of live sound settings, from the pulsating energy of live music events to the meticulous planning of exhibitions, conferences, sporting events, and broadcast platforms. My intimate understanding of live performance, from both sides of the desk, empowers me to create an atmosphere where artists can shine. My goal is simple: to ensure performers feel utterly at ease, allowing them to focus solely on their craft while I handle the technical intricacies seamlessly.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing my expertise to some of the industry’s most prestigious events, including COP26, the Conservative party Conference (2023 and 2019), Festival No. 6, Blue Dot Festival, Crooked House Festival and recording sessions for the Liverpool Philharmonic. I have had the honour of working with many big names such as Pink, Jay-Z and Beyonce, Ocean Colour Scene, Gary “Mani” Mounfield (Stone Roses), Goldie, Kae Tempest, Judge Jules, DJ Luck and MC Neat, Artful Dodger, Oxide & Neutrino, Gok Wan, The Hairy Bikers, Ministry Classical, Boyzlife, DJ Shadow and The Zutons. These experiences have shaped me and reinforced my commitment to excellence.
For me, there’s no greater satisfaction than knowing I’ve played a pivotal role in ensuring every performer’s needs are met and that audiences are treated to an unforgettable, seamless experience. It’s an honour to be an integral part of my clients’ events, and I approach each opportunity with unwavering pride and dedication.’
